What to expect as a member

Joining wForum is the beginning of a relationship that builds over time.

As the group evolves, there is an unfolding story of personal changes and parallel paths.

A wForum group is a select group of women who meet as peers in a group relationship. There is something very liberating about forming a new relationship with others who know little about you and yet you all come together with the same trust, desire and vulnerably to share life experiences. Trust and confidentiality is established quickly and underpins the Women’s Forum experience.

Groups are typically formed with women at a similar age-stage. We carefully consider membership and seek women whose values align with the wForum value of being there for other people, not just for yourself. Because group chemistry is so important, we meet all prospective members in person.

You are probably wondering, what happens in Women’s Forum meetings? There is a simple structure to meetings so that members know what to expect and know what is expected of them. With a combination of personal updates and discussions that add to your toolkit of life skills, the 3-hour monthly meeting flies by.

Discussions vary from career, family, work-life balance, parenting, life transition, loss, empty nest, money, elderly parents, health, aging and more. Yet these themes are background to the real needs we feel, such as:

  • A yearning for meaningful connection,

  • Time to ponder the missing pieces in our lives,

  • The opportunity to speak free of judgment, criticism, or advice,

  • Encouragement to aspire and grow in new directions,

  • The comfort of knowing you’re not alone

  • Reminders of good people and positive forces at work in our world,

  • Playmates for creative self-expression and fun,

  • Confidantes who preserve your dignity when life gets messy, and

  • Advocates for our next chapter, wherever it may take us.
