December - HOLIDAY RITUALS & TRADITIONS

The word Holidays stems from the words Holy Days.  Holy days come each year with rituals and traditions to honor what is sacred and precious in life.

As groups celebrate the holiday season, consider bringing in the following questions to deepen the holiday conversation.

  1. What are the holidays you most love and what do you love about them?  Does that kind of love feel holy?  A different kind of special?

  2. What holidays do you not like? Or what do you not like about the holidays?

  3. What are your traditions from your family of origin?  Which of these do you love and which have you chosen not to carry forward?

  4. What new rituals and traditions have you started? How does it feel to do your own thing?

  5. What choices around holiday time are you wanting to make for this year, whether you have no family, blended family, or geographically distant family?

  6. During the holidays, is your home open to guests or just to family?

  7. What are your take-aways from this conversation?
